Bachelor of Arts with Honours

Overview

The Bachelor of Arts with Honours is for high-achieving Bachelor of Arts students (or equivalent) who can select from approximately 30 subjects. Participants typically undertake a personalised study programme which will include a research component as well as taught electives.

Entry requirements

Postgraduate certificates, diplomas and honours programmes require a relevant bachelor's degree. If you gained your qualifications overseas, these will need to be assessed to ensure they are of an equivalent standard.

Qualification specific requirements

Candidates must have qualified for a bachelor's degree and satisfied the prerequisites for the subject concerned. Prerequisites vary between departments, but normally good grades in 300-level courses in the subject concerned are required.

Qualification structure and duration

The Bachelor of Arts with Honours comprises three to nine courses, one of which must be a research paper.

Duration

The Bachelor of Arts with Honours will normally be completed within one year, but may be completed part-time in up to four years from the first year of enrolment. Students can begin their studies in February or July.

Further study

Honours degrees are often a pathway to further study, for instance students who complete to a satisfactory standard may be able to progress to a master's degree by thesis-only.
