At UC you have the opportunity to turn theory into practice. Apply and build your skills in research, analysis, writing and presentation in real-world contexts with an internship or placement.

Internships and placements are offered in many subjects including; Arts, Education, Engineering and Commerce. They are a great way to make contacts, build confidence and get an edge in a competitive job market. Internships also give you the opportunity to reinforce your academic and career objectives by testing out real life career options.

UC actively nurtures innovators and entrepreneurs. As a UC student you will test your knowledge through practical application in our state-of-the-art labs and classrooms, throughout New Zealand, and around the world.

Outside of your academic studies, programmes such as Summer Startup and Incubator provide you with a range of opportunities to fast track your entrepreneurial ideas. UC Innovators provides everything you need to get up and running with your ideas - from scholarships and office space, to mentoring and expert advice.

Global study opportunities

UC gives you the chance to develop a global perspective through Study Abroad and student exchange programmes. These programmes offer you the chance to actively engage with other countries and cultures while continuing your study for one or two semesters.

UC actively encourages students to make international connections. You will have the opportunity to broaden your perspective and help international students feel at home here in Christchurch through a range of activities and programmes.
