Accommodation package for study abroad or exchange students

The most hassle-free option for international students studying for one semester only.

Study Abroad Accommodation

The UC Accommodation Student Village offers accommodation specifically tailored to your needs. If you are coming for one semester, this is usually the easiest option as accommodation can be arranged before you arrive.

The self-catered 3, 4, 5 or 6 bedroom apartments offer you independent living with the bonus of living on-campus in a secure and supportive study environment and are ideal for individual students over 18 years of age.

Costs for 2016

  • $5,789 NZD for one semester
  • $10,664 NZD for the February to November academic year

Included in the package:

  • $300 NZD Contingency Fee. This will be refunded at the end of your stay, less any deductions for damage, loss, unpaid accommodation fees or fines etc.
  • $300 Administration Fee
  • $200 Residents' Association Fee
  • Linen and bedding pack
  • A Study Abroad and Exchange Welcome Pack
  • Opportunity to make up for any unused time in your contract at another participating Campus Living Village in New Zealand, Australia, the UK or US as part of Go Explore*.

Payments must be made by semester unless other arrangements are made with the hall.

Apply for the study abroad or exchange accommodation package

To apply, please complete the online application form for accommodation.  If you indicate in the "International students section" that you are applying for the Study Abroad/Exchange Accommodation Package" you will skip the "Accommodation choice" page. Accommodation is guaranteed for applications received before 1 December for first semester (February start) or by 1 May for second semester (July start). Applications received after the due dates will depend on availability.

If you are coming for UC's Semester 2 2016 and also Semester 1 2017, you can apply for the Semester 2 package and contact your hall office to extend your stay for a further semester. A further application is not required.

Semester 1 (February start)

  • Arrival - Monday 25 January 2016 (an earlier arrival date is subject to availability)
  • Departure - no later than 10.00 am on Monday 27 June 2016

International Welcome will take place on Monday 15 February 2016.

Semester 2 (July start)

  • Arrival - Monday 4 July 2016 (an earlier arrival date is subject to availability)
  • Departure - no later than 10.00 am on Monday 5 December 2016

International Welcome will take place on Wednesday 6 July 2016

Whole Academic Year (February start)

  • Arrival - Monday 25 January 2016 (an earlier arrival date is subject to availability)
  • Departure - no later than 10.00 on Monday 5 December 2016

International Welcome will take place on Monday 15 February 2016.

*Free accommodation with Go Explore

As part of the package Campus Living Villages offer free accommodation in one of 36 cities around the globe. You can stay for up to 2 weeks in one other Campus Living Village.

UC Accommodation Student Village is managed by Campus Living Villages which is a global company with student villages across Australia, the United Kingdom, the United States, as well as New Zealand.

You must do this either immediately before the start of the academic year if you are arriving in Semester 1, or immediately following your last university commitment at the end of the year if you are arriving in Semester 2.

When you apply you need to notify UC Accommodation Student Village if you want to take up the Go Explore offer and complete the additional application form.

Get picked up at the airport

If you are arriving in New Zealand for the first time and are intending to study for at least one semester, you are eligible for a free airport pickup service. You will be picked up on arrival at Christchurch International Airport and delivered to your pre-arranged accommodation
