Fifty years of asteroid hunting for Kiwi couple

From moonbows and asteroids to everything between and beyond – the astronomical half-century adventures of University of Canterbury Adjunct Fellows Alan Gilmore and Pam Kilmartin have been profiled in an excellent new Stuff.co.nz article from Education reporter, Lee Kenny.

Pam Kilmartin, 70, and Alan Gilmore, 76, have been studying the skies for more than 50 years. 

From the University of Canterbury’s Mt John Observatory, in Tekapo, they have produced several thousand observations and discovered more than 40 asteroids, mostly in the main belt between Mars and Jupiter.
