Chemistry at UC is vibrant and active. We issue a regular newsletter, welcome international visitors on Erskine Fellowships (a unique opportunity for our students) and host Rutherford Discovery Fellows.

ChemSoc is a student-led, student-focused social group at UC. It hosts a variety of different social events throughout the year such as a barbecue and quiz night with a chemistry focus. These events are geared towards providing chemistry students a chance to get to know each other better and giving them a club to call their own. Other services include academic help for students such as informal tutorial sessions throughout the year. Students of all year levels and ages are encouraged to join.

ChemSoc also acts to link students to NZIC and members enjoy getting involved in Chemistry's outreach activities with primary and secondary school students.

You can find them on Facebook and Instagram or get in touch via email.

Chemistry on social media

Chemistry has an active Facebook page.  Like us and keep up to date with Chemistry news, visitors, events and seminars. UC Science also has a YouTube channel.

Students of Chemistry can become involved in College of Science Outreach activities alongside staff to deliver educational science programmes to local primary and secondary school students.

Volunteering to help with Outreach activities offers a chance for community engagement and is very rewarding for students.  The programme helps school children to become enthused about science and its possibilities while offering students who become involved an additional skill set beneficial to future career paths in science education.
