Careers staff and international directors play a vital role in providing information and advice to secondary school students about their future tertiary study options.

UC Update Day is an opportunity for secondary school advisors to learn more about what UC has to offer. This exciting two-day offering over 25-26 June includes:

Day One: Monday 25 June 2018

This first day is aimed at those from outside the Canterbury region and/or those who haven’t visited UC’s accommodation options recently. It includes:

  • A welcome morning tea
  • Accommodation updates based in University Hall
  • A UC campus tour
  • Lunch at Rochester and Rutherford Hall
  • Bus tour of Christchurch detailing SVA contributions to the city

Welcome dinner: Monday 25 June

UC will host a Welcome Dinner in the central city in the evening. All who register for either day are invited to attend.

Day One Programme
10.00am Airport collection and transfer to University Hall
10.30am Registration and welcome morning tea at University Hall
10.50am Welcome and overview of the day
10.55am Intro and updates on UC accommodation options
11.30am Depart University Hall on UC Campus Tour
12.30pm Lunch at Rochester and Rutherford Hall
1.30pm Transport from Rochester and Rutherford Hall to Chateau on the Park
2.00pm Check in at Chateau on the Park
3.30pm City tour departs from Chateau on the Park - featuring Student Volunteer Army sites 
5.30pm Transport to dinner venue
5.55pm Arrive at dinner venue
6.00pm Dinner
8.00pm Transport to Chateau on the Park

Day Two: Tuesday 26 June 2018

This day features:

  • Updates from UC Vice-Chancellor | Tumu Whakarae, Dr Rod Carr
  • Keynote presentation by Product Design specialist, Prof Conan Fee
  • Your choice of three sessions of College Information Workshops
  • A showcase of the UC7 attributes and how we prepare students to change the world
  • Tours of the exciting new Ernest Rutherford Science building
  • UC International College information, and professional development options UC can offer teachers

Travel, accommodation and parking

We are pleased to offer one travel reimbursement per school for those travelling to this event from outside Christchurch.

This travel contribution is to the value of $200 for flights, or to the value of $60 toward petrol.

Please book your own flights. Reimbursements for distance travel will be paid to the attendees’ school following the event, by Tuesday 24 July.

Parking vouchers will be mailed to attendees driving to UC in the weeks prior to the event. Recommended parking is in the Clyde car park. Click to view map.

Accommodation on the night of Monday 25 June for attendees travelling from outside Christchurch will be at the Chateau on the Park. This booking, including breakfast, will be provided and organised by UC.

Please indicate your travel and accommodation requirements when completing the registration form.

Due to the increasing popularity of this event, places for 2018 are limited. Invitations with a personal link to register will be emailed to you directly, with registrations opening to all schools on the 26 March. Please respond to your invitation as soon as possible to register your place.
