UniLife is a free, year-long social mentoring programme, run by students for students. We are here to help you find your feet at UC, meet other students, make friends, and have fun exploring together what UC has to offer. No matter whether you are fresh out of high school, an international student new to Aotearoa New Zealand, a mature student here for a career change, or embarking on your postgrad journey, UniLife is the place for you!
We have five team on UniLife, each run by three amazing Kaitaki Ākonga | Student Leaders who know from experience how overwhelming uni can be. Your Kaitaki Ākonga will mentor you throughout your first year at UC, share all their tips and tricks, and help you have the best possible start to your UC journey. We have Team Ponga for postgrads, Team Horopito for adult students over 25, and three undergrad teams for rangatahi: Team Koromiko for Business and Law; Team Kānuka for Arts, Health, Education, and Digital Screen; and Team Harakeke for Science and Engineering.
UniLife puts on free, fun events for you to connect with others and find your tribe at UC. Coffee catch-ups on campus, bowling, social sports, escape rooms, hikes, or burgers and a movie are just some of the things the UniLife Teams got up to last year. In addition to regular team events, we host some big events for all UniLife students each term, like Quiz Night, Paint&Sip, a day trip to Hanmer Springs, or our legendary Mid-Winter Christmas.
