Following the 2020 election, New Zealand was reported to have “one of the most diverse parliaments in the world” by CNN. However, the 2023 election and a swing to the right means New Zealand's Parliament has become less diverse in terms of different ethnic backgrounds, suggesting some political parties should reconsider the makeup of their candidate lists and memberships.
