Scholarships and funding for Engineering, Forestry, Maths & Stats, Product Design

UC Engineering has over $600,000 available each year to help our undergraduate and postgraduate Engineering students. HOW TO APPLY

The Faculty of Engineering is well endowed with scholarships.  More than $600,000 is available annually for Engineering students at both undergraduate and postgraduate level.  In addition to UC Engineering-specific scholarships and prizes students are advised to search the scholarships database for general UC scholarships. Scholarships offered by industry may be available through individual schools within the Faculty. 

Our scholarships recognise academic achievement and innovation skills, as well as cultural, sporting and community involvement.

Civil and Natural Resources also has some funding available each year to assist postgraduate students. Regular contestable funding is offered for research expenses such as field work, surveys, testing materials - discuss this with your supervisor.

Department funding is also available for conference travel/attendance by PhD students. Full-time students can also be employed as Teaching Assistants. These involve helping run laboratories, tutorial sessions, or marking undergraduate assignments. Students can earn up to NZ$3000 annually this way.

Industry funding can include Road Safety Trust and New Zealand Transport Agency.

Chemical and Process

UC has Summer Scholarships that enable students to spend the summer (400 hours) on a supervised research project.   Engineering students may credit their summer scholarship work towards the practical work requirements of the BE(Hons) degree provided criteria are met.

Only one university placement can be counted towards practical work requirements, regardless of the employer/sponsor.
