What We Did
We developed novel high speed bioprinting technology and electrospun 3D scaffolds to rebuild biofunctional brain structures. We also developed biomimetic tactile sensors and machine learning algorithms to understand tactile signal processing in brains. We developed 3D in vitro brain model to reproduce hallmarks of Alzheimer’s disease, which could be used to study mechanisms of brain diseases or to test therapies for brain diseases.

Why It Matters
The brain is one of the most complex systems in the universe, and we are far from understanding its structures and functions. Brain diseases could lead to the lose of physical and mental capabilities, and significantly affect human wellbeing. By mimicking brain structures and functions, deep neural network and other artificial intelligence technologies have generated broad impacts in every industry and human society.
