Background

Dijana Dragicevich graduated from the University of Canterbury in 1997 and spent two years working at Hawkes Bay Hospital before heading abroad. In 2003, Dijana completed a Masters in Health Science through the University of Sydney, looking at the risk of aspiration pneumonia in patients with dysphagia. Dijana worked for 12 years in London, predominantly at two large teaching hospitals in the area of acute neurogenic communication and swallowing difficulties before returning to Sydney in 2011.

Dijana is continuing her academic development at the Rose Centre, beginning her studies for a PhD in early 2018. Her research interests lie in the management of dysphagia in the hyper-acute period following stroke where there is limited research on dysphagia rehabilitation. Dijana loves to identify solutions for people with dysphagia and find the best outcomes for recovery.

Her research is supervised by Prof Maggie-Lee Huckabee and Dr Phoebe Macrae.
