I’m interested in studying how earthquakes can inform us on the activity and mechanics of large tectonic features in Aotearoa New Zealand.
My research currently focuses on the Hikurangi subduction zone and on using seismicity catalogues to investigate the seismic activity in its southern extent. By compiling data from various earthquake and moment tensors catalogues we can learn a lot about where a subduction zone potentially stops being active. This can also give us insight into the implications from a local seismic hazard perspective.
