My research focus on the liquefaction and soil-structure interaction in the context of volcanic soils (specifically pumice-rich soils). Pumice-rich soils have some unique properties, including being very crushable, which present challenges for traditional engineering design tools. I am studying the behaviour and liquefaction resistance of pumice-rich soils to develop more suitable, resilient design methods for buildings and infrastructure in areas with pumice-rich soils.
