Research Title: Influence of Pumice on the System Response of Buildings with Shallow Foundations under Seismic Loading

Main Supervisor: Mark Stringer

Co-supervisors: Misko Cubrinovski and Chris McGann

Research interests:

Geotechnical Engineering and Earthquake Engineering

My research focus on the liquefaction and soil-structure interaction in the context of volcanic soils (specifically pumice-rich soils).  Pumice-rich soils have some unique properties, including being very crushable, which present challenges for traditional engineering design tools.  I am studying the behaviour and liquefaction resistance of pumice-rich soils to develop more suitable, resilient design methods for buildings and infrastructure in areas with pumice-rich soils.

Academic history: BE(Honours) in Civil Engineering. University of Canterbury
