HOW TO APPLY
Working Thesis Title

Spatial Movement of People and its Effects on Biosecurity in New Zealand and Australia.

New Zealand and Australia heavily depend on trade and tourism which places much strain on their biosecurity systems. Any pests or diseases can come in with the items of the international visitors which could cause serious damage to environment and economy. The research will focus on understanding the link between the spatial movement of people within and across the borders of the country and the biosecurity risks that these travellers present. We will segment the contribution of tourists towards the introduction and dispersal of exotic organisms. My research aims to investigate the impact of individuals’ mobility patterns on the biosecurity of New Zealand and Australia. The study will involve tracking anonymous participants’ locations through their mobile phones using GPS technology. We believe that this research will help in future deployment of efficient monitoring and mitigation procedures for biosecurity.

Academic History
  1. Summarising the applications of the multi-objective algorithms (Genetic Algorithm and Particle Swarm Optimisation) to address the problem of distributing passengers travelling from the same origin to different destinations in several taxis.

  2. Addressing the Carpooling problem wherein Multi Objective Genetic Algorithm and Particle Swarm Optimization are applied and their total costs are compared. The problem is to distribute passengers traveling from the different origins to different destinations in several taxis.
