My current research focuses on simulating cascading dynamics of fire-atmosphere interaction using numerical methods to estimate the spread of wildfires in the wildland-urban interface. The rate of fire spread is determined by the interaction between mesoscale atmospheric turbulence and microscale fire-induced turbulence in the boundary layer. Using a coupled atmosphere-wildfire behavior model, the fire spread rate can be predicted by analyzing the interaction between turbulent regimes in the atmospheric boundary layer.
