Tom’s research focuses on the seismic performance of mass timber buildings. His current research is on the seismic performance of high capacity hold-down connections for large Cross-Laminated Timber (CLT) shear walls. Utilising large self-tapping screws Tom hopes to provide an innovative solution that provides connections with high capacity, stiffness, and ductility for future timber buildings. Through extensive experimental testing and numerical modelling Tom aims to provide practical solutions and design guidance for industry.
