Established in memory of Eamon Molloy QSM, by those whose lives he’d touched over 50 years of service to the community, this scholarship helps international students who are citizens of East and South Asia to make the most of their time at UC and in Aotearoa.
Eamon began supporting foreign students and migrants in the 1960s, helping them to settle in Aotearoa by finding them permanent accommodation and introducing them to the Kiwi way of life. He was a guardian to many overseas students and oversaw their overall welfare in Ōtautahi Christchurch. He was also instrumental in setting up orientation programmes for overseas students in the 1970s. He helped many Indo-Chinese refugees arriving in New Zealand in finding their families in refugee camps and reuniting them. Right up to his 80s, he was still active in extending a welcome to many people of an ethnic minority.
Through supporting the Eamon Molloy Memorial Scholarship, you can make a difference in the lives of dedicated immigrant students who have committed themselves to studying in Waitaha Canterbury.
