Hayley's work with Cold Storage Nelson was the ideal start to her career straight after graduating with her degree specialising in managing business processes.
Her role sees her implement and support new and existing processes to help the company better meet objectives and operational targets.
"I travel to our branches around New Zealand and get to create meaningful work that will have an impact on our business every day," she says.
Originally intending to study Accounting and Economics with UC, Hayley found that she instead "loved HRM" and the human element behind business practices.
The social side of campus was also easily her favourite part of studying here, enjoying events like the Tea Party and hanging out at The Foundry.
"It's such a nice place to be, really good vibes all over campus and you do not find nicer lecturers than the Commerce lecturers," she says. "I enjoyed meeting likeminded people."
She also made use of the Māori Development Team while studying and graduated at the Māori Graduation Ceremony, "which was an amazing experience".
Hayley encourages other students to commit to time management and learning to better enjoy these kinds of opportunities.
"Being organised is the key, the more organised you can be the less stressful Uni is and if there's no stress then it's pretty achievable," she says.
"Read as much about business in New Zealand and overseas as you can, it will help you so much when you get further through your degree, as you can draw so many examples for assignments and to help you with your own understanding."
Her triple-major degree has been invaluable for her current work, and Hayley looks forward to what more she can offer her company.
"I have well developed communication skills and report writing skills. My degree has given me so much knowledge about all aspects of a business so I can serve my company in any aspect they would like me to, as I have received such a well-rounded education. I hope to design standardised training materials and systems and work as a consultant rolling these out in the future."
