Allowing yourself to take time out to recharge and rest is important for your wellbeing, both for you, and your whānau. At the University of Canterbury we provide sick leave so you have time to look after yourself and your immediate whānau in the event of an injury or sickness. If you are a continuing employee there is also the added time benefit of receiving an enhanced annual leave package of five weeks per annum. Many staff are also entitled to receive five days of University leave per year. These days are listed on our key dates page and fall on the Tuesday after Easter Monday, the last working day before Christmas and the three days between Christmas and New Year.
There are a number of leave entitlements, both paid and unpaid that are offered at the University, to help you manage your leave requirements. We have a number of discretionary leave options that include, but are not limited to Sports and Cultural leave, Earthquake leave and Leave without Pay. We also acknowledge long term continuing general staff members with long service leave.
