The UC Nelson Campus offers the Ako: Bachelor of Teaching and Learning (Primary) degree. This three-year degree prepares you for a teaching career working with tamariki in primary, intermediate, middle and area schools.
Flexible delivery
The Ako: Bachelor of Teaching and Learning is offered by a mix of on-campus and distance learning options.
- You will have face-to-face classes for two days a week during term time, and also use online materials to support your learning.
- Professional practice is undertaken at local schools, with which UC has strong links.

Study locally
UC's Nelson Campus is situated at 145 Collingwood Street. Our students come from the top of the South Island, including Richmond, Tasman, Motueka, Golden Bay and Marlborough.
While enjoying the benefits of studying at UC, Nelson students also have access to all of NMIT’s facilities, including the cafeteria in the Student Centre, the Library Learning Centre and computer facilities such as the Fishbowl Computer Suite on the ground floor of the library.
