Examinations
Students who have a condition that will significantly impact their performance in assessments can apply for special arrangements.
Special arrangements for examinations should be applied for as early as possible to avoid the date restrictions around tests and exam periods.
Implementation of special arrangements for both formal exams and for departmental tests are requested through TRW|SAS and arranged by the Examinations Department. The application is considered on behalf of the Academic Administration Committee and a resolution is made.
Types of special arrangements that may be provided include:
- Extra time
- Writer
- Reader/writer
- Ergonomic furniture
- Use of computer
- Separate rooms
- Exams in alternate formats
If you are unable to sit your exam, you must contact the Examination Special Arrangements Coordinator (examinations@canterbury.ac.nz) by midday, one working day before the exam. Failure to do this will result in a fine of $60.00 per exam for each of the Supervisor and/or Reader/Writer per exam. This goes towards the cost of setting up your accommodations.
Please note, exams with special arrangements begin 30 minutes prior to the main cohort i.e.: 9.00am and 2.00pm.
How to apply
Once you are registered with TRW | SAS, your Accessibility Advisor will discuss appropriate special arrangements, and let you know what else you may need to do.
Be mindful that different cut-off dates apply for Bridging and Summer School examinations, for up to date information on cut off dates please click here.
Should you experience a temporary impairment and require support for your examinations after the cut-off date, please contact TRW | SAS immediately so we can help.
