Student Assura FAQ

We're all about thriving in a safe and healthy environment here at the University of Canterbury.

 

Assura is our new and easy to use health and safety system. Reporting through Assura will increase the visibility over what is affecting you, so we can correct issues and share safety successes. Health and safety is all of our responsibility, and by working together we can protect our community.

HOW TO APPLY

Assura is our new and easy to use health and safety system. Reporting through Assura will increase the visibility over what is affecting you, so we can correct issues and share safety successes. Health and safety is all of our responsibility, and by working together we can protect our community.

Assura is more than just a reporting tool; it's a way for us to up our safety game collectively. By reporting through Assura, you're shining a spotlight on campus safety. This means quicker fixes for issues and celebrating wins in keeping our campus safe.

Assura can be accessed through the web browser of Chrome or Edge, or via the Assura One app (IOS or android) login with UC credentials.


  • Report  campus-related injuries , and near misses (incidents).
  • Report safe practices, suggestions, unsafe practices, and unsafe conditions (safety observations).

  • Staff with Health and Safety duties will review your report and determine if any corrective actions are required. During this process we may contact you if further information is needed. Information may be shared with UCSA or the halls if it relates to their health and safety obligations.

  • Assura pulls your details from studentfirst. If these are incorrect or need updating please email health-safety@canterbury.ac.nz and we will work with you to get these updated.

  • We have put a great deal of thought and testing into this aspect. If there is a breach of security, please alert us immediately via email health-safety@canterbury.ac.nz and include a screenshot of the information you can see.

  • Yes, any report you make will be visible under the 'Incidents Lodged by Me' Tab.

  • SSO stands for Single Sign On. This means when you are logged into a UC device already, Assura will not ask you for a username and password. It should log you in automatically.

  • No, If someone is in immediate danger, please call campus security on 0800 823 637 or 92111. Assura is not monitored 24/7.
  • After an event, once all danger has passed, please enter a report into Assura
  • The Health and Safety team are available during normal working hours (9-5, Mon-Fri) and will review your report during this time.

 

  • If you have not saved your report, you can edit your report and any other information. After a Assura report has been created, please email health-safety@canterbury.ac.nz and we will troubleshoot your report with you.
