We get it, starting new things can be tough, so we've created an easy-going programme, in a safe environment for you to give running a shot!

Here's what makes it awesome:
  • Walk, jog, or run at your own pace - it's all about feeling good!
  • Two sessions a week after uni or work - convenient for your busy life.
  • Expert guidance: Our trainers will lead the warm-up/cool-down, and answer your running questions.
  • Bring a friend or make a new one! It's a social thing and we are all about whanaugatanga. Meet new people who share your goals.

Book your next class and get ready for fresh air, good vibes, and the satisfaction of hitting the pavement! This is your chance to start your running journey. Karawhiua, Let's GO!

Our Programme
  • Two sessions a week: Monday & Friday at 5:10pm
  • Where: RecCentre FUN Zone
  • Warm-up and course brief - 10 minutes
  • The main event: Run/Jog/Walk the course around campus - 40 minutes
  • Cool-down, stretch and debrief back at the RecCentre FUN Zone - 10 minutes

Your Options
  • You can choose to walk, jog or run. Go at your own pace. The group will naturally seperate into bunches of people going at similar speeds.
  • The Term 3 course is a 4km loop. It follows along well-lit main roads in a circle around campus.
    • From the RecCentre --> Clyde Rd --> Memorial Ave --> Ilam Road --> University Drive --> RecCentre.
    • View the course map here!
    • If you don't feel up to completing the 4km loop in 40 minutes, you have the option to set a 20 minute timer on your watch/phone. When it goes off, you'll turn around and return the same way you came, so you get back on time! The halfway point of the course is at Chilicombe Street.

Your Support
  • During the warm-up you'll be given a green safety light wrist band so you can be seen by vehicles, and you can see others in your group.
  • You'll meet other like minded people who you can connect with to organise your own runs.
  • Trainer support for any questions you have on getting started. As well as learning about other classes and services to further strengthen and develop you along your running journey.
