Arithmetic has a biological origin – it’s an expression in symbols of the ‘deep structure’ of our perception

Psychology Professor Randolph Grace discusses the miraculous correspondence between mathematics an physical reality on The Conversation.

UC Research explains why arithmetic is true and suggests that mathematics is a realisation in symbols of the fundamental nature and creativity of the mind.  

By stepping outside the box of their usual way of thinking about numbers, Psychology Professor Randolph Grace and his team have shown that arithmetic has biological roots and is a natural consequence of how perception of the world around us is organised.
