Student art shines at Ilam Open Studio Exhibition

17 November 2022

Ilam studios invite the community to enjoy the diverse works of University of Canterbury (UC) Fine Arts students at the end-of-year Open Studio Exhibition.

HOW TO APPLY

From Saturday to Thursday, 19-24 November, visitors can experience a wide variety art from talented third year, fourth year and postgraduate Fine Arts students.

Three artists will be presented with the prestigious SELECT award by an external guest judge at the exhibition’s opening event on Friday 18 November. Their works will become part of the UC Art Collection, and the artists will receive a financial prize as part of this award.

SDG 4 Sustainable Development Goal (SDG) 4 - Quality Education

UC staff and students will be present throughout the week to host visitors on tours of the exhibition, providing valuable insights and information on the displayed works. There will also be a detailed print publication with information on all the art to take away.

This annual exhibition is a culmination of a year’s work for UC Fine Arts students. During their degree, they specialise in one of five discipline majors – design, film, painting, photography and sculpture – and develop their technical skills.
