Research Virtual Machines (VMs) are operating systems that run on UC's private cloud infrastructure. These are generally used for computationally intensive applications that need to be run for a long time. This allows for your local compute resources to be freed up while still running computationally intensive workloads. You are able to choose which operating system and software you would like to use and we will issue you a virtual machine.
A typical virtual machine would have:
- 8-16 vCPUs
- 16-32 GB of RAM
- 200 GB to 1 TB of storage
Before provisioning you a VM, an eResearch consultant will talk with you about your project to determine the optimal resources.
