Asmaan

Revolutionising the way you train

Asmaan was founded by Aarush and Toby, two mechatronic engineering students from UC who have both played cricket and hockey. We realized that in sports training, athletes often rely on coaches, teammates, or friends to create a realistic, game-like environment. Therefore, Asmaan’s mission is to harness technology for sports training, enabling athletes to practice independently in more game-like conditions.

Our initial focus is within the cricket space, where we aim to develop a first-of-its-kind autonomous cricket bowling machine. This innovative product will introduce variability in factors such as line, length, and speed, challenging cricketers to develop not only their technical skills but also their mental skills through decision-making—the foundation of any sport.

Our target audience includes schools and cricket clubs/organizations, with the goal of providing as many junior and amateur cricketers as possible the opportunity to enhance their skills and passion for the game with purpose, impact, and enjoyment.

NZylon

Plastics reimagined

Discarded fishing nylon is a significant contributor to ocean pollution, and New Zealand currently lacks the capability to recycle nylon, with most waste ending up in landfills or being exported. Nzylon will address the problem by establishing a domestic recycling facility that processes ocean waste nylon into high-quality manufacturing material.

The recycled nylon will be offered to B2B customers looking for sustainable solutions. The opportunity lies in closing New Zealand’s recycling gap and meeting the growing demand for eco-friendly products and circular economy practices.

By providing locally recycled nylon, Nzylon enables businesses to reduce their carbon footprint, promote ocean protection, and fulfill the rising consumer demand for sustainable materials. Additionally, final customers benefit from products made with responsibly sourced materials, enhancing brand loyalty and helping businesses differentiate in a market where environmental impact is increasingly influencing purchasing decisions. This solution creates a local, circular economy by turning waste into valuable new products, fostering a more sustainable future.

Sterineedle

safer, cleaner, faster

Sterineedle is a halster designed to improve livestock vaccination by ensuring consistent needle sterilisation. It addresses the challenge of maintaining needle hygiene, reducing the risk of disease transmission and enhancing animal welfare.

Farmers often struggle with needle hygiene during large-scale vaccination, leading to cross-contamination and compromised livestock health. Existing solutions are time-consuming and impractical. Sterineedle is a holster that can clip onto your belt for continuous needle guns that sterilise the needle automatically after every use. This ensures hygiene, minimises disease risks and saves time without disrupting the vaccination process.

The primary market includes livestock farmers in the dairy, beef, sheep, and deer industries, where efficient and hygienic vaccination practices are crucial. Sterineedle easily integrates with farmers' vaccine equipment, reduces disease risks, and has time-saving features by eliminating manual sterilisation or frequent needle changes.

Sterineedle aims to educate and set a new standard for livestock vaccination, enhancing efficiency and welfare while supporting sustainable farming practices.

Trail Sale Ltd

Fuel Your Mission

Trail Sale was formed while its founders were walking the length of New Zealand along Te Araroa (TA). Jak was running out of money and Ve was struggling to find dietary specific food. These challenges resulted in the formation of an idea to help others pack and deliver food parcels. Their business saves TA hikers time, and money, and ensures accessibility to dietary-specific foods.

Throughout the Summer Start-Up Program, they have gained traction with selling resupply parcels to Te Araroa walkers and have expanded their vision for the company. Their purpose is to facilitate others to embark on adventurous journeys, by simplifying the pre-requisite work of packing and planning for multi-day outdoor trips.

Currently, Trail Sale is selling curated multi-day meal boxes to fuel adventurous pursuits through their website www.trailsale.co.nz. They will soon be releasing a new range of meal boxes to support people embarking on any of New Zealand's great walks as well as a recovery box for people doing the Coast2Coast.

Their drive to help people get outdoors is the backbone of their business. Trail Sale serves Te Araroa walkers, multi-day adventurers and people keen on getting outdoors by providing a convenient way to fuel their journeys.

Waka Tipu

Growing Futures Today

Growing up in a large family where money was tight, we learned the value of the side hustle. Now, as a mum, I’ve supported my kids through various versions of the ‘lemonade stand.’ By age 11 or 12, their ambitions and business ideas grow, requiring more tools and guidance. For many children living in poverty entrepreneurship isn’t about pocket money, it’s the difference between eating lunch.

Waka Tipu empowers 10–14-year-olds with entrepreneurship resources that build self-belief, develop business skills, and are both engaging and accessible. Grounded in Te Ao Māori, our holistic frameworks provide practical, real-world business tools for families, educators, and community groups to support children on their journey. Our initial offering is a book designed to introduce key entrepreneurial concepts in an approachable way, followed by an expansion series and interactive games that deepen learning and provide hands-on opportunities to apply these skills. Waka Tipu meets the growing demand for meaningful, supported resources. Unlike standalone read only offerings, our range builds on previous learnings, fostering deeper engagement and interest in specialised areas of business.

WardMate

Better tools for better hospitals

A quarter of nurses interviewed for this project carried no tools on their shift. When a builder doesn’t have their toolbelt it’s annoying, but when a nurse doesn’t have the tools they need to do their job, that job being saving people, things get a bit more serious. This issue stems from poor storage; with far too many low-quality tools and nowhere to safely keep them, many nurses simply forgo carrying any equipment at all. No neurotorch means being relying on phone torches which can damage a patient’s retina. No ampoule breaker means shattering glass with bare hands. No scissor cap means being stabbed in the thigh with surgical scissors. The WardMate is a multitool which solves this issue by conglomerating all of a nurses’ most common tools into a single compact, manageable and personalizable package. Not only does the WardMate de-clutter scrub pockets, provide nurses with a way to humanise themselves and connect with patients, but every tool in the ward mate is also a direct improvement of the current hospital standard.
