"Visiting various countries, i gained valuable insights into regional markets, economic trends, and local business practices. This experience not only expanded my understanding of the challenges and opportunities in international business but also enhanced my cultural intelligence. The tour allowed me to connect with local professionals, learn from their experiences and explore potential strategies for entering these dynamic markets. Overall, it was an enriching experience that contributed significantly to both my personal and professional development."

Programme Information

The core of the programme involves business visits and meetings in  four cities:

  • Singapore (5 nights)
  • Johor Bahru, Malaysia (2 nights)
  • Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia (6 nights)
  • Jakarta, Indonesia (6 nights)

In addition, it includes a range of cultural activities, including an overnight stay in Melaka in Malaysia, as well as free days to explore each city on your own.

The course itself has a deeply practical focus, including a project where you will work in a group to undertake research and develop recommendations for a client interested in expanding in the region, allowing you to learn about the factors that are important for making good decisions about where and how to expand internationally.

There is also a strong focus on preparing you to function affectively across cultures in your future careers and lives. Linked to this, you will explore cultural differences that may require adaptation at an individual level, utilising the cultural intellegence framework as a tool to identify and develop strategy for navigating these.

While the study tour component is three-week long, the course also consists of workshops, activities and assessment items beforehand and afterwards.

The study tour is part of BSNS228, which is a 15-point 200-level course.
