Engineering students at UC can join a wide range of student groups offering peer support, academic and careers advice and employer networking opportunities.

Engineers Without Borders New Zealand is a member-based not-for-profit organisation with the aim of creating systemic change through humanitarian engineering. To learn more see the website.

ENSOC is the largest student club at UC and offers a wraparound service to Engineering students including career advice, tutorials, social events, interview practice, field trips, sports teams and more. Check out our website or find us on Facebook.

IEEE is the world's largest technical organisation. The student branch, UC IEEE holds a number of events every year from social get-togethers to professional networking.

The MacDiarmid Emerging Scientists Association aims to enhance the research experience for post-graduate students and post-doctoral students associated with the MacDiarmid Institute of Advanced Materials and Nanotechnology by promoting professional development and collaboration during their time working in the MacDiarmid Institute.

We host workshops, social events and an annual boot camp to promote learning and networking across disciplines and across New Zealand.

UCM (University of Canterbury Motorsport) is a team made up of current UC students. We build cars and compete in the Formula SAE competition. Our team is a mix of Mechanical and Electrical Engineering students. For more information see our Facebook page.

The UC Robotics club offers a way for any UC students to compete in the VEX Robotics Competition VEXU division and an opportunity to mentor younger students around Canterbury in robotics.

We mainly cater to the VEX competition program for now but are open to any competition or hobbyist.

Women in Engineering at UC was established in 1999 to provide a support network for the growing number of female engineers. The club hosts social events, industry expos and helps with your academic queries. Connect with Women in Engineering via their Facebook page.

Women in Tech (formerly Computer Chicks) is a social club for UC Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Software Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Mechatronics, Information Systems or Maths students.

It is open to anyone who identifies as female - we are supportive of the LGBTQ community - and is studying the above at UC. We aim to support and connect the women studying for tech degrees. The club was started in 2009 as a response to women in the department feeling isolated and has grown into a major support network for women at all study levels.

We offer mentoring, study nights, regular social coffees (coffee is free!), the chance to share experiences and even a popular cocktail evening which is enjoyed by all the department.

If you have any questions about the club please email ucwitsoc@gmail.com You can also request to join our Facebook group.
