HOW TO APPLY
Expand your knowledge

UC's Faculty of Engineering offers block courses and other flexible learning options for professional engineers in a range of areas including Architectural Engineering, Civil Engineering, Construction Management, Earthquake Engineering, Fire Engineering, Renewable Energy and Transportation Engineering. It is vital that engineers update and expand their skills and knowledge. These courses will help you understand and apply new technologies, stay ahead of industry trends and advance your career.

Course format

Offered in block or flexible format, the courses fit around work commitments and are ideal for the working professional, including those living outside of Christchurch. The courses are generally run over a two to three-day period of lectures during a week, with a break in between for independent study and reading, followed by another two to three-day period of lectures. Other courses may be offered by other methods of flexible delivery. Course lecturers are academics as well as industry experts.

All courses can be taken as a one-off single course as part of a Certificate of Proficiency or, if a candidate has an appropriate academic background, can be credited to a postgraduate qualification.

Eligibility

To be eligible to enrol in a course you should hold a Bachelor of Engineering with Honours degree or another degree relevant to the course of study or suitable work experience.  You can discuss your background with a Student Advisor.

Please note that some courses will have prerequisite courses that are required before enrolment can be granted. Additional undergraduate courses may be required before enrolling in postgraduate courses. In most cases preapproval to enrol will be required.
