UC's Postgraduate Certificate in Sport Science (PGCertSS) gives you expertise for a career in the sporting industry. The Postgraduate Certificate in Sport Science gives students expertise in a career in the sporting industry, or allows those already the in the field an opportunity to upskill and update their sport science knowledge.
You should have completed a sport and/or science-related Aotearoa New Zealand degree (or equivalent), and normally should have achieved at least a B Grade Point Average in 300-level courses in the degree for enrolment in the Postgraduate Certificate in Sport Science.
One or more courses in this degree may also require vaccinations. Check each course page for more details.
If English is your additional language, you are also required to meet UC's English language requirements.

The PGCertSS requires 60 points of coursework.
It would normally be completed full-time over 6 months (one semester).

PGCertSS requires a compulsory course and 30 points of elective courses.
30 points selected from the list of courses. Topics cover areas such as exercise science, biomechanics, sport psychology, nutrition, or health behaviour change.

You can go on to study a Master of Sport Science, or a Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) in Health Sciences or Biological Sciences.
