UC's Geothermal Resource Research group focuses on gaining insights into the characteristics of geothermal reservoirs, surface expression of geothermal features, exploring new geothermal fields or areas of production, and geothermal power generation. Learn more about our research on energy and resources.

HOW TO APPLY

Welcome to the Geothermal Resource Research Group:

The Geothermal Resource Research Group is a research programme housed in the School of Earth & Environment and the School of Engineering. Research is focused on gaining insights into the characteristics of geothermal reservoirs (heat source, waters), surface expression of geothermal features, exploration of new geothermal fields / areas of production, and  geothermal power generation.

Collaborative Research:

The School of Earth & Environment in collaboration with the School of Engineering (Civil and Natural Resource Engineering) have over the last five years been developing a research platform in geothermal systems and energy. Through the development of this programme research collaborations have taken place with:

Much of the research in the Geothermal Resource Research Group is of a collaborative nature involving staff or groups of staff working with postgraduate students, senior fellows and research associates within and outside the School of Earth & Environment and the School of Engineering. There is significant external collaboration with international colleagues, local and federal government agencies, geothermal industry, and other research institutions. This pattern of working has come about from the recognition that a multifaceted or multi-disciplinary approach provides a more powerful tool for research.
