Abstract

Kaitlyn and Gareth will spend a few minutes talking about working in central government; Kaitlyn focusing on her experience as a relatively recent UC graduate, and Gareth focusing on his role employing people to join his team. Some of the questions they will cover will include:

  • What happens with new graduates when they start work in a government department?
  • What is expected of new graduates?
  • What do they get involved in when they start work?
  • What knowledge, skills and experience is it important for them to gain before they start work?
  • How well does university prepare graduates for a job in government?
  • What do employers look for when employing graduates?

In addition Kaitlyn and Gareth would like to know what graduates are looking for in a job, specifically, what makes an employer an attractive destination for a graduate, and how can the MoT engage more/better with the University? Some come along with your thoughts related to these questions.

There will plenty of time for Q & A and Discussion.
