International Foundation Year: Foundation studies for University Entrance

The International Foundation Year (IFY) qualification is normally required by students who have completed high school outside of the UK education system and/or in a language other than English.

If you have applied directly to the university and were not eligible, the IFY qualification may be able to help you bridge the gap between your current qualification and university study at an undergraduate level.

For the International Foundation Year qualification, you can choose three academic modules depending on which degree you want to study at university. You may also need to study one of our English for Academic Purposes modules.

Entry requirements

International Year One: Advanced access to the second year of a university degree

The International Year One (IYOne) is a credit-bearing qualification that enables you to study the first year of an undergraduate degree at an NCUK Study Centre and upon successful completion, enter the second year of a wide range of degree courses at university. Students benefit from smaller classes, allowing thorough academic preparation and support to ensure a smooth transition into university study.

Entry requirements

The International Year One is ideal for students who are looking to:

  • Study locally for an extra year and gain university credits to transfer to a full degree;
  • Experience an international learning environment and build up a global network of contacts;
  • Benefit from smaller class sizes and personalised support before entering university.

NCUK’s Master’s Preparation

The Master’s Preparation gives students the high-level academic skills and knowledge, advanced English language skills, and university application support and guidance to successfully apply for a Masters.

The NCUK Pre-Masters Preparation qualification gives access to a UC postgraduate degree on successful completion.

NCUK’s Master’s Preparation (also referred to as NCUK Pre-Master’s Programme) is the best route for success on your chosen postgraduate degree and in your future career – it ensures you Get Into university and Get On with your studies.
