Over the course of 2023, UC hosted more than 40 separate events across Waitaha Canterbury and around the world that attracted more than 10,000 attendees to celebrate UC’s anniversary. These included concerts, conferences, public talks, art exhibitions, sporting events, and various events for students, staff, alumni and the community.

In 2023 we invited our community to join us for a variety of events to celebrate 150 years of UC. From academic symposiums and cultural performances to sports tournaments and art exhibitions, our events were about bringing people together - the wider community of Ōtautahi Christchurch and UC alumni, staff, students, and friends.

Drawing on artefacts and archives from across UC's special collections, this exhibition explored the rich traditions, histories, and communities that developed in and around the University from its beginnings on the original town site through to its migration to the Ilam campus.
