External University Academic Audit
In accordance with international best practice, the University continuously reflects and reviews its quality systems and processes. In addition, the AQA (the Academic Quality Agency for New Zealand Universities) is an independent body established by the New Zealand Vice-Chancellors’ Committee to carry out academic audits of universities.
Academic audits require the university to examine learning, teaching and student support and submit a self-review document to the AQA. A panel of external peer reviewers is appointed to review the university's portfolio and visit the university to meet with staff and students
A public report contains recommendations and commendations. The report of the 2023 academic audit is available via this link. The report includes commendations, relating to teaching, learning and student support. A progress report on how the university is progressing with these matters will be published in 2025.
