Professor Thiam Soon Tan is the President of the Singapore Institute of Technology.
He studied Civil Engineering at UC before going to California Institute of Technology (Caltech) in 1981. Upon returning to Singapore he started his academic career at the National University of Singapore (NUS) and was there for 26 years, becoming a professor of civil engineering and then Vice Provost for Education. In 2012 he was invited to move from NUS to be the President of the Singapore Institute of Technology.
