Rā Tōmene | Open Day is your chance to experience everything UC has to offer in one action-packed day.
You’ll be able to explore campus and halls of residence, attend information sessions on your study options, chat with advisors about enrolment and courses, score some freebies, enjoy good kai, and much more.
After you register, you’ll get an information pack that includes details on parking, locations, and more.

Hall tours
All halls of residence will be open for viewing on Open Day from 9am – 4pm. Buses will run from campus offering a hop-on, hop-off service, however all halls are within easy walking distance.
All halls will also be open on the following days (please check in to each hall reception for a guided tour):
- Thursday 29 August 12pm – 4pm
- Saturday 31 August 9am – 12pm
If you’re starting study in February 2025, this is your last chance to check out the halls in person before applications close on 25th September.

Visiting UC from out of town?
If you prefer to stay close to campus, there are limited rooms available at our Kōawa Halls – Sonoda for $85 per night.

If you prefer to stay near the Airport, Novotel Christchurch Airport is offering a 10% discount for University of Canterbury guests. The hotel is only 5.5km from the campus via Memorial Ave. The metro bus outside the hotel will drop you at Ilam Rd, a 5-minute walk to the University.
