The UC Rec & Sport team are excited to support your journey into the “possible”.
We have a safe and achievable 6-week plan, designed to be fun and get you moving outdoors. We'll provide the support you need to make that first step. The primary goal is to finish the event, enjoy the experience and the atmosphere of the day and to kick start something for your health, wellbeing, and life going forward.
The Event - City2Surf
- Date: Sunday, 16th March 2025
- Location: Two starting locations depending on length, both following the Avon River and Ōtākaro trail, winding its way to the Rawhiti Domain for an awesome finish! (Check out the course map here).
- Latimer Square (12km option)
- Porritt Part (6km option) Follow the Avon River and the ,
- Choose from walkers, wheelers/aids, beginner joggers or joggers/runners.
- Don't worry about what level you decide to embark on now, we'll help you in the first week to figure out the best fit and you can change groups if it's not quite right.
The Support Package
- City2Surf event entry.
- 6-week pre-event training programme.
- Access to our private City2Surf social channel for motivation, programme updates and event guides.
- Pre-programme meet & greet. Monday, 27th January (K1 lecture hall)
- POST programme catch-up : TBC
Eligibility Criteria
- Open to all UC Staff and UC Students.
- Minimum age of 16.

UC Students Living in Halls:
The first 200 Halls Students (who are residing in a Halls of Residence) to register will get our support training package, plus a commemorative t-shirt, and a discounted $30 event ticket (Ordinarily $40 for entry only)
