Where to Start
Discover Running
- This is our intro programme to get you started running up to 4km comfortably. It's not not just about running as you may just start out walking. Use these sessions twice a week to slowly build up your endurance, to get to the point where you feel comfortable running up to 4km.
- These sessions are also great for connecting with other like-minded people, so you can plan your own runs together. Holding each other accountable for your workouts really helps with motivation.
SkillRUN
- Use our SkillRUN classes to strengthen the muscle groups you use while running all while increasing your power and endurance.
- These classes are so popular we run them twice every day. Make sure you book early to get your spot.
- We leverage the Skillrun's, run, sled and parachute training modes for a true athletic conditioning. With a speedy combination of cardio and strength training, each session keeps you focused on performance alone.
Parkrun*
- When you are comfortable walking or running up to 4-5km, Parkrun might be your next step.
- Parkrun is a global phenomenon with 50 parkrun events around New Zealand. (*UC is not affiliated with Parkrun)
- It's a free, community event where you can walk, jog, run, volunteer or spectate.
- Our closest course is 5km in Hagley Park, and takes place every Saturday morning at 8am.
- Parkrun is positive, welcoming and inclusive, there is no time limit and no one finishes last. Everyone is welcome to come along.
- You can go along to any event, any weekend, find out more about the Hagly parkrun and to signup for free on their website here.
City2Surf
- Designed for absolute beginners, join us in our six week training programme as we gear up to walk, wheel/aid or run the City2Surf event.
- With the event held in March each year, we have developed a safe and achievable 6-week plan.
- Designed to be a fun and safe way to get you moving, get outside and provide the support you need to make that first step. The main goal is to finish the event, enjoy the experience and the atmosphere of the day and to use the 6-week programme to kick start something for your health, wellbeing, and life going forward.
