Language Technology Theme

27 August 2024

Research at the New Zealand Institute of Language, Brain and Behaviour (NZILBB) includes a Language Technology Theme. This theme uses computational methods to address social, cultural, and linguistic challenges. Learn more.

HOW TO APPLY

The theme leader is Dr Jonathan Dunn.

From a social perspective, we are working to develop equitable and responsible technology that represents diverse cultural and historical experiences, to create personalised technology for educational settings, and to better understand politics, economics, geography, and literature using computational models. From a linguistic perspective, we are working to develop reproducible tools for modelling global language variation, for modelling the emergence of grammatical structure, and for interactive language documentation.
