Choosing Data Storage

14 June 2024
APPLY NOW

UC provides various research data storage options for staff and students. Request our eResearch Consultancy services for advice on the most appropriate storage solution throughout the Research Lifecycle. Requests for research data storage must contain basic information about the project, researchers involved, and data. This helps us to support appropriate data handling practices (e.g., ethics conditions, access restrictions, retention, long-term data governance) and mitigate risk.

This list will be updated as more storage solutions are added. For questions regarding the data classification suitability, please refer to the Data Classification page.

Note About P:\ and Local Drives

These are not recommended for storage of research data. Please note that the P:\ drive documents will be migrated to Microsoft OneDrive in 2024.  If your data is not research data, but is related to university work, such as teaching and learning, or administrative files, please use Microsoft OneDrive. If you have any questions about the move of data from P:\ drive to OneDrive, please contact the Digital Information Programme (dip@canterbury.ac.nz).

For support in this area, please contact the eResearch team by filling out the eResearch Consultancy ServiceNow Form.
