European and European Union Studies

21 September 2023

After China and Australia, the European Union is New Zealand's most significant bilateral partner. Students at our European and EU Studies department gain multidisciplinary, historical, contemporary, research-informed knowledge of the European Union and wider Europe. Check out UC's European and EU Studies department.

HOW TO APPLY

The European Union is New Zealand's most significant bilateral partner after China and Australia and is one of the world's leading political and trading blocs.

Wider Europe is also one of New Zealand's main political, economic, cultural, social and linguistic reference points. Studying Europe from afar provides a number of advantages – of perspective, comparative analysis, and isolation from short-term trends.

Our students gain a multidisciplinary historical and contemporary research-informed knowledge of the European Union and wider Europe.
