Te Pūtāiriki: Māori Law Students' Association

26 February 2024

University life can be daunting at first and the journey can seem hard at times. On the upside there are multiple support services to make your journey smoother. One of these is the Te Putairiki: Maori Law Students' Association. We aim to foster, promote, and nurture the whakawhanaungatanga (togetherness) of our students. Learn more.

HOW TO APPLY

Te Pūtāiki: Māori Law Students' Association

Run by students for students

Te Pūtairiki is one of those services. Formally established in 1993, Te Pūtāiki is the Māori Law Students' Society on campus. Run entirely by students for students, our main objectives are to foster, promote and nurture the whakawhanaungatanga (togetherness) of our students, to provide support, guidance and pastoral care, and to facilite academic excellence.

Whanau atmosphere

We operate according to tikanga Māori, which creates a really welcoming whanau (family) atmosphere. We are lucky enough to have our own office in the Law School, which is a space that we can call our own, and a space where our students can study, receive tutorials, meet with their peers, grab a cup of coffee, have lunch or simply hang out in between classes.

Academic support

Other support offered to our students include extra tutorials, exam preparation workshops, essay writing workshops and social events which are run throughout the year, and the best thing of all is that membership is FREE.

Te Pūtāiki is a home away from home, and we would love to have you join our whanau.
