Introduction

  • UC Philosophy brings together expertise in metaphysics, epistemology, ethics, political philosophy, philosophy of mind and cognition, and logic. This diversity allows you to explore different approaches to philosophical questions and develop your own research interests.
  • The Department of Philosophy has a strong, active culture with regular seminars from local, and visiting international speakers.

Philosophy is a subject in both Arts and Science degrees at postgraduate level, so there is a wide range of qualifications available to study across both Faculties:

The Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) degree is available for students seeking to pursue advanced research in Philosophy, leading to a thesis of up to 100,000 words. The programme also offers opportunities for interdisciplinary research, with a focus on areas such as environmental philosophy, ethics, and cognitive science.
